Week 3: Endless Research and Planning

Image
I have decided that this blog is where I throw in all my stuffs. Ideas, plans and all that. Because my brain can't take it anymore. Anyhow, after the second learning plan discussion, I've written down some notes about what I should refine in my learning plan. Then I proceeded to look at tutorials and watched more videos on how to make an AR app to sort out the brief structure of my work flow which looks like this now: 1. Design  catalog  / packaging for the target image. 2. Create 3D objects (flowers/fruits) in C4D . 3. Import objects and required items into Unity . 4. Generate target images on Vuforia . 5. Develop AR app on Unity : place objects, create buttons, write C# script etc.. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCOLdX1JMo4) So that was on the technical stuffs. Other than that, I researched about fragrance brands and marketing strategies to refresh my memories, this time I found more articles and examples that I've never seen last week. Week 2.5(?): More Research? (´・ᴗ・ ` )

First off, I watched some videos of how to make AR apps to have the basic understandings of the making process. Even though the content is still unconfirmed, I thought it will be good to at least start somewhere. Secondly, I also did some research on fragrance brands marketing strategies, reading up on how they promote their products, as well as researching about consumer needs in the perfume industry. Frankly speaking, I wasn't expecting to see any "interesting" articles about it because... marketing articles usually sound really d u l l and b o r i n g but thank all gods I managed to come across some nice ones and they really did open my eyesight. Week 2: Content planning, Brainstorm, Research

Image
As mentioned in the previous post, I've chose to do AR mobile app. After showing Louise my learning plan which wasn't very satisfying, and after some guidance from her, I finally had an idea for the content and managed to fix my learning plan. Nice. For the past two weeks I was actually very lost about what I can use as the main content. Retail? Culture? But after looking at the references Louise provided, I picked some of the more relevant ones, and also some that I personally liked, such as the Starbucks and Adidas AR apps. Then from there I started another round of brainstorming. My initial idea was retail, and I decided to branch out from there. I also put myself in the customers' shoes, thinking of what are the struggles I face usually when doing shopping. While brainstorming and also searching for some articles regarding AR in retail, "fragrance" was mentioned in one of the articles. I personally is a big fan of fragrance so ideas came to me not long later.

Independent Project? Who, What, Why?

2020 really caught me off guard with not only Miss Rona's world tour that happened to put everything on hold, but also this independent project that came way earlier than expected. Well, when life gives me lemon I just have to eat it, I'm lazy for all that juice making. This introduction blog post might be a lengthy one because I do enjoy writing. If I was a fish, then this blank text page shall be my ocean. Yikes, cringy. But if any lecturers or even Tatsun is reading this, please let me ramble and be funny for a bit. I won't be able to do this by Week 12 where it's the official week of me losing my mind. Anyhow, getting back to the independent project. This caught me off guard because I am so used to assignment briefs written with instructions so specific that I sometimes despise them. But THIS independent project brief is the complete opposite. This is one huge lemon. So, we can choose literally anything to do, any digital media artifact. I chose to do Augmented Real
